A Dream Come True

The other day when the sun shone for a moment between rain, my kids called me outside.  Grasping at any excuse not to finish the laundry, I went running.

My son handed me a rope and said, “Will you tie me to this pole?”

I’ve waited all my life to hear him ask this one question.

Grabbing the rope, I ran circles before he could change his mind.  Motorists slowed to a crawl.  They were jealous.  For once in my life, every parent wanted to be me.

The day I tied my son to a pole will remain a highlight in my mothering career.

Happy Mother’s Day to me.

  2. I laughed so hard at this! You should definetly try the WIWW, it is intimidating at first but once you get going it is fun to see what outfit combos you can put together.

  3. That is so funny! The daughter of one of our friends used to ask her to put a leash on her and tie her to a post. Kids can be so funny!

  4. Ha!

I have pictures of my son duct taped to a pole. His friend did it, not me, but it looks really bad. I mean, even his face is covered in tape. Maybe I should frame it?

  5. Did any of those slow-moving motorists happen to be on the cell phone calling DHS? LOL!

BTW, I’m not sure the laundry could ever get bad enough to make me want to run instead. I run, but only out of guilt, not out of chore avoidance. ;)

    • Clearly I’ve had a writing mishap! I was not actually ‘out running’, it’s more like I was ‘running out’ to tie him up. Opportunity made me run and only about fifteen feet. Now I have guilt for not running. Thanks Megan. ;-)

  6. I’m laughing so hard I almost fell out of my chair. Can I give your son my son’s number? I think they need to talk.
