In the beginning of July, I set out to take a picture a day. Unfortunately I kept forgetting to grab my camera and snap a photo, so I only made it a few days. I’ll try and do better in August, but for now, here is a quick picture of July.
July 1
My husband was preaching in a little country church just east of Nowhere, New York. The church building was two hundred years old, as so many of them are, and the air was stale and close. Of course I had an asthma attack. I always do. So while I stepped outside for some fresh air and a couple of puffs of Albuterol, I took a picture of the old car my son admired on the way in.
July 2
Another gorgeous day found us spending the afternoon in the city pool. FringeKid insists on wearing her silly mask that is almost always so fogged up she cannot see. Must be a kid thing, because I’d rather get a little chlorine in my eyes.
July 3
I took the kids to the park and my son informed me in the nicest way possible that he’s really outgrowing the park. What? I’ve been parenting with parks for twelve years. What in the world am I going to do now? I have to relearn parenting. What does one do with a teenager?
July 4th
We went to the reading of the Declaration of Independence. It was both really empowering and sad. Empowering because it reminded me that I’m an American. It was like a walk into both history and the future. In one document I saw where we’ve been and what it took to make us free, but I also saw a glimpse into our future and how nothing ever really stays the same.
July 5
I’ve been walking around the high school track. My family hates coming with me and walking in a circle, but I like it. I know for certain how many miles I walk and what kind of time I’m making. Walks through the neighborhood always find us smelling the roses, and although that’s nice, it doesn’t necessarily help the fat-fighting mission.
July 6
I had forgotten to take my photo of the day, so I hopped in the car and went in search of something. This old clock/thermometer stand in Main St.
July 7
I really forgot to take a picture.
July 8
I didn’t think you’d mind a little snow. In July, snow looks pretty and almost romantic. In January, snow looks like work.
I have a funny story about this snow globe. If you’d like to read it, click HERE.
July 9
I doubt you can read that little sticker on the bathroom wall, but it says “Serve only the Lord your God.”
That is my children’s idea of spreading the Gospel. We call it bathroom evangelism. Well, we do now.
July 10
This is precisely why I do not grow things. This aloe came to my house full of health and pointy leaves. Now it’s two shades beyond dead. I try. I really, really try, but I am a terrible gardener/houseplant keeper.
It’s sad I have to end with the half-dead (now all-dead) aloe plant. I’m sorry.
Hope you all have a magnificent weekend. We leave during the night for our trip down south. If you’re the praying type, please pray for our safety and for our car to make it in one piece. If you’ve seen our car, you realize I’m basically asking for a miracle. Thankfully we have a miracle working God.
Happy Friday!
Have you ever tried to take a photo a day?
I’ve never tried to take a photo a day but I may try it in the fall.
Lovely pictures!!
Good job on the pictures. I especially like the track and clock pictures – although they’re all nice. If it helps to know you’re not the only one – I’m bad with plants to. My husband keeps ours alive. Good for you for walking. Every little bit helps.
Lovely!
Those pictures are pretty fantastic. And, nope! I wouldn’t even attempt to do a photo a day in the summer. There’s just not enough structure in our days to make it possible to remember each day. But, come Fall now…
Yep, tried taking a photo everyday it lasted maybe 4 days. I failed the challenge miserably. Good luck with yours
No, but I have often thought of doing so, joining in with one or another of the blog photo challenges that make the rounds, but have yet to do so. Seems like I try to make too much work out of it and rather than going there, I don’t do anything. Story of my life really. Sad but true.
Anyhoo, have a safe and happy and healthy trip. We will be praying for you.
Have a great trip! Praying for ya! Take a picture OF your car. That’s another “picture a day”! ;0)
I love these pics…you’re awesome! Prayers for you and your family for sure!
