For me, the are so much more comfortable than pants. That’s probably because I have a hard time finding pants that fit, but I like dresses for other reasons too.
They are easy to wear.
They don’t take much thought in the morning. Just throw one over your head and you’re ready to go.
They can be casual, yet put together.
They can camouflage the cheeseburger and fries I ate last week and the butter I added to my popcorn.
Dresses are easy to wear, but it’s still too cool to break out the sandals, so I have a few tips for making dresses cool weather friendly.
layer, layer, layer
Layering is the key to making a summer dress work in the summer and fall, and maybe even in the winter, depending on where you live.
Here are some easy laying pieces to add to your dress.
- Thick Leggings
- Socks & Boots
- A Shirt Under or Over the Dress
- A Sweater
If it’s really cold, wear all those layers together; otherwise, pick one or two and make it work.
Dress: Old Navy
Boots: Dr. Marten
That mustard sweater from Target was my wisest investment piece this last fall, and it wasn’t much of an investment at right around $20. It is showing some wear, but I’ll get lots more use out of it. When I find another, I’m definitely buying it!
Many of you have asked about my boots. I ordered them online last fall and I wore them nearly every day this winter. I do love them. They are leather, and they also fit a wide (athletic) calf.
They are available at Amazon.
What about you? Do you enjoy wearing dresses or are more of a jeans type of girl???
I’d love to hear your thoughts or tips!
