  • faith related topics
  • inexpensive fashion
  • my life & neighborhood
  • family & life

The previous were mentioned several times, but the following are some comments that really stood out, and I appreciate those of you who took time to write me a message.

I like reading your take on life. You bring a perspective from the life of a Northern girl (at least geographically) that this Southern girl (culturally and geographically) doesn’t read in the regular ole blogs of flips flops and big hair. I like when you weave your faith into your life. I read you as authentic. I suspect that if we lived closer, your couch would be the one I would plop on and dish about the perils of being a mom of teens and tweens, of the challenges of our economics, and of the joys that God gives in the midst of it all. So when I come to your blog, those are the things I like to read.

can’t answer that because I don’t see any improvement to an already fun and excellent blog. I would have to say the only thing I want more of is time to read the posts since I hardly get to ready anything anymore. :-) From a mom of two of the same age (ok I am ,like,…6 month older) It’s sometimes the thing that brings a smile on a snowy day.

Anything you write is good, I love your honesty and your sense of humor.

More on faith, especially funny (ha ha) faith- not funny-strange. Also the faith series you did last fall was EXCELLENT. More of that.

More on your travels & the uniqueness of each place – loved your stories of Florida, Maine, and New York – with pics.

I especially loved the funny faith, not strange faith comment.  I’m right there with you.  It’s all straight-up faith, minus the strange around here. ;-)

New Topics You’d like me to Write About

Again, I loved all your comments, but these are the ones who asked for something specific.  There are some great ideas and I promise to address them.

No, I’m just using this space to ask you to please not give up your WIWW posts. I know you think they are awful, but as one thrift, Goodwill, hand me down, clothes wearer to another, you give a great deal more inspiration to my closet than those who are shopping Nordstrom’s every other Tuesday afternoon.

Yes ma’am! I don’t know how to even say this. And I’m not talking about you, I promise. I enjoy looking through what I wore Wednesday outfits. I understand style is very very personal. But sometimes some of the women (includes moms) dress like teenagers. I will look at the outfit and then at the face and the two just don’t go together. Maybe somehow you can address this delicate topic? How to dress stylish and age appropriate… On the other hand I’m not sure if it’s even worth addressing this topic, it has big potential to offend women… I will not be disappointed if you don’t.

I’d love to read about your take on relationships such as friendships & how you manage them with your busy family life. I have only a few friends and rarely get together with them outside of church. I’m really a loner and it takes so much effort to build relationships. I usually don’t try very hard.

And to the person who said you are praying for me – Thank You so very much.  You have no idea how encouraging that is to hear.  I am blessed to have such thoughtful readers and I don’t take you for granted.

A few of you asked me to hurry up and write a book.  I’m like a turtle sometimes and I’m sorry.  I get all caught up in self-doubt and the idea that I couldn’t possibly fill a book with my words.

Having said that, the gears are in motion.  I’m working.  Don’t expect anything too miraculous, but I’ll get it done….eventually.

Thank you for being patient and for believing in me even when I don’t believe in myself.

If you’d like to voice your opinion on topics or any of these items, there’s still time to take the survey.  Just follow the link below.  It’s all anonymous.  I have no idea who took the survey or who left comments.

  1. ah heck here I am madly catching up so missed the pol although I am always happy with whatever you post!

  2. I will be the first one to purchase your book :) You look gorgeous in this polka dot shirt and polka dot umbrella. This inspired an outfit – large polka dot pencil skirt with mini polka dot shirt. Hopefully it works.

    • Oh, we’d love to see your polka-dot inspired outfit! Do you have a blog? If not, you should send a photo. I can post it! How fun would that be?

      • I don’t have a blog, writing is not my strength since English is my second language. And I don’t own a polka dot shirt. What I wore Wednesday and J’s everyday fashion, and losing all of baby weight inspired a major wardrobe overhaul. I will send a picture if (and when) the outfit comes together.

  3. I love the polka dotted umbrella…..you’re always so cute. I don’t take the ‘time’ to be cute. I’m sure I should though……

The survey you did was a great idea….now you’ve got enough material for months of blogging, and for the start of your book, right?!?? ;)

    • Thanks Nina. It’s really my daughter’s umbrella. I “borrowed” it. It doesn’t take much more time to “be cute”. Honestly. I was wearing a different (baggier) shirt earlier in the day for the heart monitor thing and then I went and had it removed and just changed my shirt and threw on a necklace. I’m wearing yesterday’s hair…actually, I’m wearing Sunday’s hair. I guess that’s the advantage to having hair like straw. You don’t have to wash it that often. ;-) So, easy-peasy. Not much time.

  4. How cute are you and that umbrella?! Seriously~ that is a darling picture. It sounds like you got some really positive and helpful feedback from your poll. What a great tool!

Although these aren’t my words, I think this commenter put my feelings about your blog perfectly: “I read you as authentic. I suspect that if we lived closer, your couch would be the one I would plop on and dish about the perils of being a mom of teens and tweens, of the challenges of our economics, and of the joys that God gives in the midst of it all. So when I come to your blog, those are the things I like to read.” I think “authentic” is a very succinct way to describe your writing style: your voice comes through very clearly. Your blog gives the reader a good idea of who you truly are. For me, that is the hallmark of a good writer. When’s that book coming? ;)

    • Jessie, man, this is so sweet. I appreciate your kind words. I really love your blog too. In fact, I just recommended it to someone last night!

The book…oh, the book…it’s only in my head at the moment, but I really need to begin carving out some time to write.

  5. That was supposed to be “raincoat”

  6. The results of the survey are very interesting and filled with great suggestions. Where is the book? I retire soon and you will need your earnings from the book to support me. I love the polka dots! Remember that rain and umbrella you had for your first year in college?
