A couple of years ago, I was asked to speak at a women’s fellowship in Maine. I am not speaker by any stretch of the imagination. If given the choice, I would have been much more comfortable writing out a talk and mailing it up.
Growing up, my family told me I talked and talked and never shut-up. As it turns out, I outgrew the talking. Ok, well, maybe I didn’t, but I think I’ve learned to reign in the words.
Sometimes though, God asks us to do things that are outside of our comfort zone. He likes to help us do things we never thought we could do. It brings Him glory when we allow Him to work through us.
So I went to Maine and talked about a passage of Scripture that had been on my heart for a very long time.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. ~Titus 2:3-5
What do these verses mean and how do these verses apply to women in 2013?
If I can ever find my notes, that may become a blog series, but for now, I’m going to attempt to live out these verses with you.
I have a vision of creating a library of videos to help and encourage women.
I am creating video Skype chats with Godly women who have a special expertise in a certain area. For instance, marriage, raising Godly kids, intimacy, friendship, using your talents for the Lord…stuff like that.
I know this probably sounds crazy, but I am hoping to create a place where women can learn from other “real” women who have been through the hard times and have seen victory.
These videos are meant to be a help and encouragement.
They are not meant to be a burden or another set of things we should be doing in life.
You don’t need to add anything to your “to-do” list. In fact, you can skip the videos all together, but if you’re looking to be encouraged in different areas of your life, then watch on my friends.
The videos have a page of their own. You can find them on the little banner at the top of this page – T2 Videos – Women helping Women.
If there is a certain topic you would like to see covered, please let me know in the comments or you can find my email on the contact page.
These videos are meant to be informal chats, one woman to another. I wish we could all sit around and have coffee together, but I hope this will be the next best thing.
I hope you enjoy!
