It’s Wednesday again and I should be talking about clothing, but really, I need to discuss hair. I’m having a hair crisis.
After the modern mullet cut debacle and then chopping all my hair off, I am in crisis mode.
It’s like I have someone else’s hair on my head. Now I wouldn’t mind if this new hair were silky and shiny and easy to manage, but it’s not.
Skirt: Old Navy, Shirt: Old Navy, Sandals: Famous Footwear (all of it from last summer)
My hair isn’t bad when I blow it out and use a flat iron, but I can’t really do that every single day in the summer or else I will kill my hair.
In the winter, I can blow it and leave it for days, but that’s really nasty in the summer, because let’s face it, I sweat.
Bag: Charming Charlies
I know you came here for more than hair complaints, but what’s a girl to do?
All you ladies with pretty hair, I need help!
Do I cut layers? Do I let it grow out? Do I need new hair products?
Short: Hand-me-Down, Shirt: Old Navy
On a different note, the next picture was taken on the same day, one year later.
Sometimes I don’t feel like I lost a pound, but seeing this picture makes me realize I have lost some weight and the 10 Things I Learned about Dieting are true.
One Year Later
Please excuse the wet hair and nasty floors.
We are working at fixing the flooring in our house.
Dress: Target (old), Shoes: Walmart (about 7 years ago)
This dress has 13 pins in it. I’ve been wearing it that way since last fall. Obviously, I’m not good with tailoring, but I can transform a garment with a box of safety pins.
I just have to stay far away from metal detectors.
Jeans: Kohl’s, Sweater: Kohl’s
When I saw this picture, I said, “Oh, no! I forgot to put on real shoes.”
Sorry about that, but flip-flops are like slippers for me in the summer.

I love your curly hair! I say rock your natural texture in the humid, summer months. I wish I could recommend a good product, but I have the opposite problem. I’m always trying to plump up my limp locks. You might try searching on The Small Things Blog to see if Kate has any recommendations for your hair type. She’s never steered me wrong!
I have curly hair and my favorite two products are Argan oil and AG’s Recoil. Recoil is expensive but worth every penny!
Forgot to say–layers do wonders as well. I would definitely consider getting some. : )
I LOVE that purse! Charming Charlie’s has such cute stuff! And I was wondering the other day if you were still losing weight. You look great!
I live in Florida where it’s humid all year round, and I have naturally curly (frizzy) hair. I use John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease collection: shampoo, conditioner, serum and mousse. It’s made a real difference in my hair!
I have super curly hair. I live in the DC metro area so summers are really humid and hot and I keep my hair pretty short – one thing I’ve learned is hair products are absolutely essential. Catwalk Curlesque Curl Collection Curls Rock Amplifier Cream is a great product for helping to get my hair to curl better, while keeping it from poofing out and giving a bozo the clown-like look to one’s hair (not that I would know anything at all about that.
). I also really like Matrix Total Results Curl Super Defrizzer Gel.
Thank you Ashley! I am taking your advice to heart and writing down these product brands. I appreciate the recommendations.
As for the bozo look, trust me, I can totally get that. My daughter is constantly telling me that my hair is getting frizzy. Once, my husband looked over at me and said, “I can see your hair growing.” He meant bigger and not long. Ugh.
