DIY Lamp Makeover
A few weeks ago I bought a creamy/yellow lamp at a yard sale. I spent $1. The shade was as old as me and it was dried, cracked, and aged. I hope my face is not in as bad of shape.
So, I brought the lamp home and my hubby snickered. My children hated the lamp. I saw beauty, howbeit tired and worn.
I already had a can of Krylon Gloss Blue Ocean Breeze at home, so it cost me nothing to paint the lamp.
I bought the super-spectacular embroidered shade from Lowe’s. It was on clearance and cost six dollars and change. That brings my total money spent to around $8, but if you actually had to buy the paint, it would be another two something. Still reasonable.
It was still a little wet, so I sat it on the flyer.
What do you think?
After leaving the lamp in the kitchen for three days because I couldn’t decide where to put it, I chose to give a home in my bedroom.
The lamp is actually quite large, so I thought it needed a weighty table to rest on.
I pretty much adore this lamp, so it’s nice that I get to see it first thing every morning.
What do you thing? Should it stay in my room?
Great project! It turned out lovely! Thanks for linking up for Friday Favorites. I’m featuring you this week. Come by and grab my featured button if you’d like on.
it’s cute! I have never attempted to make anything over. I have absolutely no eye for that kind of thing. I’m jealous.
Tricia, the lamp came out great. I think I’m going to try my hand on changing the two lamps I planned on giving to Salvation Army.
Looks wonderful!
I gosh darn love it in your bedroom. You might ask your family who’s laughing now????

That is beautiful! I am not creative that way. Wish I was!
I wish I had one tenth of your talent!! Even just a smidge would do! Great job!
So creative! and I really really love that dresser.
I love it! And keep it in your bedroom. It fits right in there. I like soft light from lamps in bedrooms. Nicely done!
Wow. Only got two stars on this lamp. I thought it deserved at least three. 😉
I LOVE it! The blue with black and white, plus the simple base and classic shade, is beautiful. Well done! Makes a bargain shopper’s heart pound, it does.
Thanks Janna! In the store, I wasn’t sure if the shade would go with the blue lamp, but I took a gamble and I’m glad I did.
I think your lamp looks great! I see someone in the mirror. 😉
Thanks Deb. I couldn’t figure out how to take the pictures without getting myself.
That looks great! I always think I can see the beauty in a find like that but can never figure out what to do once I get it in my hands. You did a great job!
Karen, sometimes it is difficult to figure out what to do with junk finds. And sometimes it just all comes together. I’ve had many projects that ended up in the trash heap. It’s nice to get a gem once in a while.

I think its lovely and the shade is perfect. I’ve been thinking about your daughters bedroom and wondering if I can make her a black and white pillow case for her bed. Do you have any of the curtain fabric leftover?
Charming’s Mama, you are SO sweet! I actually don’t have any left-over fabric, but thank you for your super-kind offer.
Several people have gotten in on FringeKid’s room makeover and have sent her some hand-made art. It’s SO beautiful. I need to put up new photos! Thank you again Sydney. You’re a special lady!

That was a good buy! It’s darling!
I haven’t bought anything that was made over, but we recently made over a glider that we already owned. It makes me feel better to rework something, rather than throw it in the trash. It’s not quite finished, but will hopefully be on the blob soon.
Mousey and I are going thrifting tomorrow with friends, I will keep my eyes open!
Can’t wait to see your glider!
It looks great!
Thank you Jennifer. I like it too. 😉
