Kiss your expensive shower cleaner goodbye!
This is where you’re going to find some HUGE savings.
I hate scrubbing the shower. It’s not just a chore I dislike, it’s one of those chores I put off at all costs until I can’t stand taking a shower in my own home. I know, grodey. I get it.
Clean. The. Shower. Already!
Luckily, I have a thirteen year-old son and he hates vacuuming. So, when we all get down to business and we’re negotiating over chores (does anyone else do this in their house?), I can usually swap shower scrubbing for vacuuming. Yes! I win.
He does a good job too.
With this DIY Shower Cleaner, I don’t even have to worry about the fumes flaring his asthma.
Cheap and healthy! Who knew cleaning the shower could be so good for you.
DIY Shower Cleaner Recipe:
Courtesy of Chrissy (thank you very much)
- Vinegar
- Dawn Dish Soap
- 3m Company 650-12 “Scotch-brite” Heavy Duty Dish Wand
Fill up the wand handle 3/4 of the way with vinegar. Add some Dawn dish soap. I don’t measure, but you can. Think two parts vinegar to one part Dawn.
Bonus: You can use this mixture to clean just about anything!
Tilt the wand upside down and right side up to mix. Don’t shake the mixture or else you’ll end up with a bubbly mess. It will only take a minute of tilting to mix.
Now all that’s left is for you to talk your kids into doing the scrubbing. Go ahead, try it. Negotiations can be fun and extremely interesting when you’re bargaining with your child.
What chore do you hate most?

thank you so much for your ideas on saving lots of money!! so helpful for newlyweds like me
do you do anything special for bathroom/toilet/sink cleaning?? thanks
I hate, or rather don’t enjoy one little bit, dusting and ironing!
Yes! I do this too, except I use a cheap Dollar Tree scrubber instead of Scotch. I’ve found that it’s super easy to keep it clean if I do it right after I shower (the hot water makes it easier to wipe the grody off or something). Plus if I do it every day it doesn’t get build-up so it only take a few seconds. I hate cleaning the shower so this works really well for me.
