Down with The Pantone Purple

It’s What I Wore Wednesday with The Pleated Poppy and I have one outfit, only one.

My wardrobe is in crisis mode.  If this winter drags on too much longer, I may be reduced to a paper sack.

Where did all my clothes go?  That’s what I want to know.

I cleaned out my closet in the fall and got rid of a few shirts with holes and a couple of sweaters that had seen better days (like three years ago), but I mistakenly assumed I left myself something to wear this winter.  We are a couple of months into the season and I can guarantee there’s nothing to wear.

Last week Loft ran a sweater sale.  Nearly ever sweater in the store was $15.88.  We all know I love a bargain, so I stopped in to see if I could swipe a sweater.

When I saw swipe, I mean buy.  I know you’ve all watched too much Dora the Explorer and you’re thinking “Swiper no swiping!”

Anyway, I picked up a very neutral (translate boring) sweater in a funky skin tone.  I’m afraid if someone glances over too quickly, it will look like I’m not wearing a shirt.

I’m the same color as my sweater.  #firstworldproblems

Then I bought a funky scarf to offset the boring sweater.  I can only handle so many neutrals in one outfit.

WIWW: Sweater & Scard Loft, Jeans Old Navy

Like I said, not the most exciting thing, but it works.

Let’s talk about 3/4  sleeves for a moment.  Who had the bright idea to make sleeves that don’t keep you warm and don’t keep you cool?  I feel like I should shrink my arms.

I wore this outfit to a small business meet & greet in my town.  I’ve decided it is high time I got more involved, so I’m on a committee now.  I’m involving myself.

WIWW: Pantone Color of the Year - Radiant Orchid

Please ignore my wonky scarf, but take a look at the coat.  Hello Pantone’s color of the year – 20 14 – Radiant Orchid.

Pretty close, huh?

I’ve had this coat for at least seven years or so.  I bought it on Ebay and at the time, with shipping, I paid under twenty bucks for it.  I remember being quite excited over my find.  It’s originally from the GAP, but I have no idea how old it is.

I was going to bring it to the cleaners and freshen it up (read – remove the pizza stain on one sleeve), but I never got around to it.  So, I just threw caution and cleanliness to the wind and wore it anyway.  There’s no time to worry about pizza sauce when you have the color of the year sitting in the back of your closet.

I’m not often so fashionably fortunate.

And that my friends is what I wore this week.  I may even wear it again before the week’s out.  I told you – slim pickings around these parts.

So, what do you think of Patone’s color of the year?

Do you have it?  Will you buy it/use it?

I love purple! And I have a turtleneck sweater that is just that shade, it is also “vintage” and I always get compliments when I wear it, think I’ll wear it tomorrow!

I can say with certainty that coat is over a decade old, and still as amazing as ever! :) I have the same one from back when I worked at Gap. Awesome bright green lining too! You look fabulous. I just purchased a similar neural sweater. I will dress I up with a fun scarf as well!
